About The Talk

AI/UX: The Role of UX Designers in Humanizing the Future

UX designers play a crucial role in training AI to interact with human beings in a way that is meaningful and fulfilling. The task of the UX designer is to create interfaces that effectively bridge the gap the between ai and each human in their own individual Tableau of experience. The training and application of the AI through intentional and considered interfaces is the cornerstone of AI/UX Philosophy.

An important aspect of this philosophy is the promotion of humane technology. UX designers must have a deep understanding of the Imbued Significance of AI in the lives of their users, and be mindful of the diverse experiences and perspectives that shape our relationship with AI. Working to incorporate insights into the design of their interfaces. This includes considering the cultural, social, and historical contexts in which AI is used, as well as the values and needs of the individuals who interact with it.

In this talk, Travis will discuss the role of Art in training AI, as it can serve as a tool for humans across time and geography to imprint the AI with a reverence and respect for human values and cultural significance at scale. By incorporating the aesthetics and cultural references found in art, designers can shape the AI's understanding of the human experience in a way that goes beyond data-driven insights.

This talk also highlights the importance of UX designers taking a proactive role in shaping the future of AI. User Experience professionals can take specific actions within their companies, communities, and platforms to promote humane technology; such as speaking up in meetings, circulating white papers, and attending conferences. (Yay!) Additionally, UX designers are encouraged to become thought leaders in the AI/UX space and adopt a strong point of view on the world for themselves.

In addition to technical considerations, UX designers must also recognize the importance of studying their own self and examining their human experience and its impact in shaping the relationship between AI and humans. Through self-reflection and meditation on their own experience, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of their perceived significance and provide more accurate and empowering inputs for AI systems.

As the relationship between AI and humans continues to develop, it is crucial for UX designers to accurately capture and contextualize the human experience for the AI through enabling meaningful interactions for users. By doing so, we have the opportunity to shape the future of AI and our world with it. The role of art in this process can not be overlooked, as it provides a unique and powerful lens through which to view and understand the world. Furthermore, UX designers must continue to promote the idea of humane technology and the importance of diverse experiences and perspectives in AI.
